This sturdy bamboo cutting board looks amazing when customized with a laser. Here we'll walk you through the steps to create a stunning customized gift that is sure to turn heads!
It's worth noting that the cutting board we used for this project has two sides - one contains a bevel around the perimeter of the board. We chose to engrave on this side because the bevel adds a decorative touch to the final product. You may elect to use the other side if you intend for the cutting board to be used day-to-day. Since we created the project for decorative purposes only, we chose to engrave on the beveled side.
We used a 50-watt Helix with the following settings:
DPI: 600; Speed: 50%, Power: 100%; Jarvis dithering pattern; Bottom-up engraving
Start by opening the design file. Make any changes to the design prior to customization. Be sure to keep all design elements within the red box on the graphic.
Next, place the cutting board in the machine. Disable the home position and reset it to the very top corner of the actual engraving area (not the edge of the cutting board.) To test that your design will fit within the surface of the cutting board, select the red box only, and with the machine lid open and red dot pointer on, run it as a vector job. The laser head will move the red dot pointer around the surface, indicating where the final engraving will appear.
When you're satisfied with the placement of your artwork, delete the red box and run the engraving job!
We'll send you a brochure, as well as engraved and cut samples created with the laser.
