Introduction to Laser Engraving & Cutting with Mike Dean will be held August 24 and will explore what a laser is and how a laser works. Students will learn all about the different operating modes, how much laser power is necessary for a given job, the size of the laser cabinet, laser safety and classifications, and much more.
This course will also discuss how a laser can enhance a woodworking shop, as well as covering the basics every laser engraver needs to know to get started!
In the Using a CO2 Laser System course (August 25), Mike delves into different types of artwork as well as the most common software tools in CorelDRAW and how to use them efficiently. Students will learn how to engrave, cut and mark in a single job setup using color-mapping as well as how to use the many features like Center-Center engraving to make difficult jobs easy.
Mike will also address creating artwork for rifle stocks and other uniquely-shaped products by demonstrating how to use the rotary attachment for cylindrical engraving and cutting. We'll also be discussing the basics of marketing and selling your laser engraved products.
